The Memphis Freethought Alliance is composed of atheists, agnostics, skeptics, non-theistic naturalists, secular humanists and others who share our vision. We are joining together to defend the separation of church and state, the need for freedom from religion, and to counter religious myths and other supernatural beliefs with rational, scientific and other secular philosophical concepts. Our purposes are as follows:
We foster an environment suitable for free speech and exchange of ideas.
We provide a forum for educational films and lectures.
We defend the constitutional separation of church and state as well as oppose government sponsored religious events.
We defend the teaching of scientific theories over non-scientific theories in public school science classes.
We oppose pseudoscience, flim-flam, fraud, myths, misleading information, and hoaxes in the media.
We recognize the civil rights of atheists, agnostics, secular humanists and others who do not believe in god(s) or other supernatural forces.
We seek to improve society through secular humanism, science and critical thinking, and rational philosophical discourse.
We provide a fellowship for people who share these purposes listed above.
